Sunday Setlist Confessional 12.14.08
Christmas comes on us kind of sudden at CCPV. Like a wave after the Thanksgiving crush. I usually prepare songs for advent with some kind of plan but this year Advent was here and I was in bed recovering from surgery.
We had guest worship leaders in for two weeks and I finally got behind the mic this last Wednesday and Sunday was my first morning service back on the platform. So, Advent took a bit of a back seat last week and I pulled out one song for the occasion.
Our worship band has dwindled to just me and my guitar and Suzette singing backup. It was an intimate but joyous moringing.
The CALL TO WORSHIP began with I Will Stand by Holland Davis. I just love this as an opening song. How the lyrics take you right into a confession of your faith and relationship with God. Singing and lifting up your hands to the Lord like King David in Psalm 63.
The balance of the OPENING SET included, Come Let Us Worship/ Tomlin, You Alone/David Crowder, Jack Parker, and How Great is our God/ Tomlin.
Pastor Bob has been teaching through the Book of Leviticus. He’s been using Wordle to creat a Screen that Pastor has up during his message.
THE MESSAGE gave us a new perspective on how The Lord views the work of our hands, the offering of the fruit of our labors. The works of Christ, who’s sacrifice was perfect,… holy, and the labor of God’s people being pleasing to God and holy in His eyes.
Generally THE OFFERING follows the message. I had chosen O Come, O Come, Emmanuel noting the great need we have for Christ to come into our hearts and lives so that our offerings to God would be acceptable. I was so blessed how God pulled that together.
The FINAL SONG was Unchanging/Tomlin ending the service where we began, lifting up our hands in the house of the Lord. I love how the congregation responded. It was beautiful!

Awesome setlist! We also di How Great is our God. Isn’t that song awesome?

I enjoyed your setlist description. I forgot about I Will Stand. I’ll have to add that to my queue.
I love “O come, O come Emmanuel” it’s always been one of my favorites.
Great idea to use O Come for the offering. Will have to filch that.
