While I’m waiting for my computer to upload our podcast and website I figured I’d post some thoughts about the latest “stir.”
Earlier… er, uh, I guess it would be last night, at Calvary Chapel Lake Eslinore a few worshipleaders from churches in the surrounding areas gathered to share original songs. Dave Morrow and Ryan Shultz organized the goings on and it was good to see some familiar faces there.
The fellowship hall had been nicely set up like a cozy coffee shop with bistro tables adorned with glowing candle-lamps. The house lights were dimmed and the stage was set. The CCLE coffee bar was serving coffee and tea drinks and there were some amazing cookies and other delights. We were treated like vip’s.
Guests included: David McCool, Steven Mulkey, Greg Allsup, Denise Marie and myself. Ryan opened with a couple of familiar worship songs and then each of us had ten minutes to share two orignal songs with the audience which had filled the room. A mix of friends, family and CCLE folks.
It was a joy to hear the variety of writing styles that we heard. I was reminded of some early Jesus Movements songs as Denise Marie sang her Easter song while at the other end of the spectrum a hint of early Jars of Clay snuck into the sound. We worshipped and sang and although the devastating wild fires in our neck of the woods continued to burn, peace filled the room and the presence of the Lord was evident.
The stir meets every three months. Be sure and visit their myspace and learn more, listen to songs shared at the “stir” and meet some great folks.
See you at the next “stir,”
